SENIOR PROTRAIT OUTFITS

Senior portraits can be one of the most exciting parts for a teen in their last school year. Long gone are the days of just a simple cap and gown photo. Today, it is more like a photo shoot which is so much more fun! It can be a little hard to figure out what to wear and how many looks to take on location. So here are a few tips for any Senior on their big photo shoot day! First of all, try not to take your whole closet. I know it's hard, but if you can narrow it down to 5 or 6 different looks, it will make the day a great deal easier on you and your photographer.    Try on your outfits with shoes and accessories and be sure to have someone snap a photo. If it looks good on a phone pic, just imagine what it will look like in a professional photo. Make sure that your accessories, shoes, and articles of clothing can mix and match together. That way when you are on location and aren't feeling that necklace you brought to go with your favorite dress, you will have options. I've created five different looks to give you inspiration while choosing your outfits. Have fun on your big photo shoot day!

BOLD PRINTS

Bold Prints are a huge trend everywhere, from statement dresses to workout gear. These prints will always be noticed and that can be a little intimidating to wear. So here are a few of my tips for wearing and mixing bold prints.

When wearing one bold print, like this statement dress , keep the accessories simple. A few stackable bracelets or rings will add enough sparkle.  If the print is monochromatic add a pop of color with a clutch and finish the look with a structured heel. This look is powerful, bold and great for the office.

When mixing prints start by picking a bold and a neutral print. In this look my bold is the floral tux jacket and my accent is the simple stripe midi skirt . I chose these patterns because they are different in scale, meaning one print is larger than the other, and because they share a similar color palette. I separated the prints with a solid color crop tank to make the look more cohesive.  I finished with accessories in neutral tones from both prints using nude for the statement necklace and clutch and black for the heels.  Have fun mixing, and wear what makes you feel good!

BOLD STRIPES

Bold stripes are everywhere this season. To give your bold stripe skirt a modern vintage look pair with a solid   color midriff top. Don't want to show too much skin? Try a tank or crew neck t-shirt.  Add pops of color with a closed toe flat and a pair of sunglasses. Accessorize with a pair of vintage drop earrings and a modern structured clutch. Finish the look with a sleek ponytail and a classic red lip.

ELEGANT SHOOT

I had the pleasure of working with Lea Nicole Photography again on this elegant photo shoot for RSVP Magazine . Each model needed to have a different formal hairstyle but they also had to be cohesive to compliment the gorgeous Saja dresses.

THE DENIM SHIRT DRESS

The denim shirt dress is a timeless piece of fashion that will compliment any style. For this look I wanted a 1970's retro style, so I paired a wooden and leather platform sandal with a fringe cross body bag and a double wrap watch.   I added little touches of gold with a feather cuff bracelet and a gypsy necklace. You can finish the look with a fishtail side braid  hairstyle.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT

My friend Lindsay asked me to create a "Girls Night Out" look for her upcoming trip to New York. I wanted the look to be elegant and sexy just like her. So I paired a structured tank, that shows just enough skin, with black ankle jeans and closed toe heels. I added a little sparkle with the jewelry and finished the look with an envelope clutch that has hint of color.

A SOUTHERN EASTER

For a fun, stylish, and comfortable Easter look try a sleeveless knee length sheath dress. This will be great for all the festivities. A pair of standout wedges will be much easier to hunt Easter Eggs in than a pair of heels. To complete the look, trade your Easter basket in for a nude tote and add a cuff bracelet with some simple earrings.

VINTAGE MASQUERADE

This beautiful Vintage Masquerade photo shoot was my first and it set the bar high for all photo shoots to follow. I got to work with some amazingly talented people and was asked to create an elegant formal up style for the bride. The results always make me smile.   Photography by: Wes Roberts Photography   Design, Styling, Floral by: LeRae Events and Design Make Up by: Lush Make Up Art
